L’Auberge de Sedona is proud to introduce the new Artist in Residence Program – showcasing Sedona art and the incredibly talented artists who create these works. In partnership with Sedona’s Goldenstein Gallery, the Artist in Residence program will allow hotel guests to not only to view local artwork, but to watch the artists at work and learn more about their art.
Using a range of mediums, artists will be painting or sculpting at L’Auberge (scheduled times can be found on the Events Calendar). The types of artwork being created range from clay and wax sculpting to bronze casting and pointillist painting. Visitors can interact with the artists, ask questions about their work or preferred art medium, learn about art galleries in Sedona, or ask about other local art programs.
Throughout the property and in each guest cottage, guests will find artwork that was selected personally by Goldenstein Gallery owner Linda Goldenstein. And if you fall in love with a piece of art, a number of pieces will be available for sale.
L’Auberge has also incorporated the work of local artists in key pieces around the resort. One example of this is the new custom bar top in the lobby that was crafted by Sedona artist Cheston Trammel. It was carved from the wood of an ancient native Alligator Juniper tree collected from the Mogollon Rim and thought to be at least 800 years old (if not older). This 25′ bar top was specially created for L’Auberge and has over 75 inlays by the artist that hold copper, Azurite and Sleeping Beauty turquoise – all natural elements from Arizona.
L’Auberge strives to provide creative inspiration – whether that means creating a work of art, a story in a journal, or just a creative idea. For more information about events and activities at L’Auberge de Sedona or to plan your next Sedona vacation, visit www.lauberge.com or contact us today.
