L’Auberge de Sedona Signature Blend Coffee

What is a day without coffee? For coffee lovers, there is no better way to start the day than with a hot cup of deliciousness. We are proud to announce that we have upgraded our coffee offerings at Cress on Oak Creek and Etch Kitchen & Bar to our new partnership with Rattle & Hum Coffee Roasters here in Sedona, AZ – it can’t be more local than that!

The Story of the Beans

The coffee offered is a signature blend created just for L’Auberge de Sedona as a blend of Colombian and Guatemalan Beans being the primary elements.

The Colombian bean is from the region of Tolima, in the center west of the country. It is 100% Arabica bean, which helps ensure a very smooth texture but rich in flavor. The bean is grown and harvested in high altitude (6,500 feet) which provides better exposure to the sun, therefore a better density in the flavor of the bean once roasted. It comes from a group of small family farmers that each own about 6-7 acres of coffee land from the town of Planadas.

The Guatemalan bean is grown on an exclusive micro-lot, a farm named Montecristo, of Nueva Granada in Guatemala. These are excellent quality high altitude beans grown in volcanic soil at 5,200 feet in elevation.

The farmer, Johann Nottebohm, runs his own school on the farm for grades 1-8. They currently have 45 permanent students and during the harvest season, the children of the seasonal workers also attend the school. Nineteen families live full time on the farm and a total of 240 people. Johann ensures that the standard of living for the workers and their families is comfortable, he brings doctors to the farm regularly, employees 3 teachers, has a church and a small market. All health care, food, and transportation are also paid for by Johann for all his staff.

We feel that the flavor of coffee is quite important, especially while starting your day in an unmatched setting like Sedona. Our signature blend is a med-dark roast with a creamy body, with good sweetness. It is very balanced and uniform with notes of chocolate, toffee/ caramel, and bright acidity
