Our 3 New Years Resolutions with tips to prolong them
1. Make time for wellness/fitness
With the New Year less than a week away, people are already making their lists of things they want to accomplish in 2016. Hitting the gym is one of the New Years resolutions out there with a low retention rate. Here are some tips to help you make wellness a permanent part of your life:
TIP #1: Do it for you and nobody else. Really think about why you want to get fit or lead a healthier lifestyle. Start incorporating small changes like drinking more water, making time for meditation, taking longer walks and eating more colorful food.
TIP #2: Make it fun. Instead of buying a gym membership that will only keep your attention for a little while, think about trying a variety of different classes. Sign up for Pilates, a sailing class, go kayaking with friends, or try something new like surfing or roller skating! Take a trip to a wellness-centric resort like L’Auberge de Sedona and get out in nature for a hike. Explore the destination and take in the great outdoors.
TIP #3: Give yourself realistic goals to work towards. Don’t start out with “I want to lose 50 pounds”, or something unrealistic. Start with your first 1-5 pounds you want to lose. Or replace one meal a day with a salad for two weeks and then slowly add in something new. And always always reward yourself for sticking to your guns. Treat yourself to some spa pampering.
With the new year approaching who wouldn’t want to travel? This is it, this is the year to do everything you’ve wanted and more so get out there and do it! There are many amazing places to explore within the United States and even more places to visit internationally. Find the right hotel, homestay or even decide to camp. Book your stay for as long as you want, find a great deal on your airfare, and enjoy. Here are some tips on where to go and how to travel:
TIP #1: Decide on what you want out of your trip. Relaxation? Adventure? Family time? For one option, check out L’Auberge de Sedona in Sedona, Arizona. Not only does it get you to the amazing travel destination of Sedona, Arizona, it has breathtaking views of red rocks, a Creekside location, perfect weather year round, and just underwent a multi-million dollar renovation. Whether it’s a romantic New Year getaway or a family trip, this hotel and city have everything you need.
TIP #2: Choosing your airline can be stressful enough. Make sure before you get to the airport you print your boarding pass at home to make it a breeze getting through security. Also, check the bag weight limit if you decide checking your bags is the way to go, this way you wont be confronted with the problem of leaving things behind on your travels to downsize your bag. On that note, leave a couple extra pounds of packing empty to bring home souvenirs. One last tip is to make sure your liquids are always under 3 oz. and in their own plastic baggy! Always check TSA rules for flying.
TIP #3: Always bring a camera, journal, or something to document your stays. You’ll be happy you did later and it’s exciting to go back and look at all the memories you’ve made. Travel time is priceless.
3. Try something new
Oh the opportunities and activities that are available for trying something new! Hop on this bandwagon because this might be the easiest New Years resolution out there and it feels good! Here are three simple tips for trying something new this year:
TIP #1: There are so many complicated resolutions, make this one easy! You can literally do anything you have never done, try something you’ve never tried, or travel somewhere you’ve never traveled. (Need an extra tip? Try booking a stay at L’Auberge in Sedona, Arizona if you’ve never been)
TIP #2: Do it with some friends to make it extra fun. Travel with your friends or try that new restaurant you’ve been dying to try and make a night of it! Dress up and have fun with this one.
TIP #3: Well, this New Year resolution is so simple we can’t think of anything else to guide you on this path!
Relax, Be Healthy, Love More, Expect Less, and appreciate the New Year of 2016 with new found gratitude.
Go out and accomplish your goals. You can do it!
