An essential part of Sedona, we look after the environment the same way we take care of our guests. We’re committed to preserving our natural landscape to ensure it can thrive and grow while promoting thoughtful connection through every interaction.

L’Auberge has successfully diverted:

  • 142,674 lbs. of food waste from the landfill
  • Which will become 35,668 lbs. of nutrient-dense soil
  • Sequestering 102,725 lbs. of greenhouse gases

 

Equivalent to:

  • Not burning 50,934 lbs of coal
  • Not using 5,289 gallons of gasoline
  • Planting 1,198 new trees
  • Non-Renewable Energy & Resources

 

Ecosystems

  • Install and use low-flow fixtures and efficient irrigation
  • Assess water use and implement cost-saving measures
  • Research sustainability certifications for products whenever we can
  • Give preference to durable, reusable, and repairable items, avoiding single-use products
  • Change all outdoor lighting to be in compliance with International Dark-Sky Association guidelines and local regulations
  • Recycle paper, cans, and glass through a service that has at least an 80% recovery rate
  • Purchase/produce at least 50% local and/or certified sustainable products
  • Restore habitats in our area
  • Donate to conservation efforts to significantly mitigate our impacts

 

Non-Renewable Energy & Resources

  • Purchase appliances and heating/cooling equipment that is significantly more energy efficient
  • Conduct energy audits on our facilities and implement cost-effective solutions
  • Implement strategies to reduce miles traveled and fuel used

 

Our Toxics

  • Use benign methods to manage pests and use synthetic pesticides only as a last resort
  • Safely dispose of or recycle electronics, batteries, and motor oil
  • Have an effective hazmat and safety program in place

 

Our Human Needs

  • All employees earn a living wage so that those who work 40 hours a week are not dependent on social services
  • Have employee involvement programs that regularly involve employees in decisions about their work
  • Assess work-life balance by discouraging employees’ work during off-hours and on vacation
  • Actively engage in community-building
  • Create information and incentives for customers to make more sustainability choices
  • Provide health benefits, paid vacation, and personal time for all employees working more than 29 hours/week
  • Do employee satisfaction surveys at least every 3 years to identify areas of concern and take action to address them
  • Encourage all employees to build their skills and knowledge
  • Encourage work/life balance
  • Research labeling that protects the interest of workers and communities in our supply chain, and choose certified products wherever we can
  • Identify social/environmental issues that we might contribute to solving and engaging in philanthropy around it
