Sedona Honors International Women’s Day

We look forward to celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) on Wednesday March 8th spotlighting the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women with the rest of the world. Following in the footsteps of so many great women is an honor and a privilege we don’t take lightly. At L’Auberge de Sedona we are lead and supported by women making up 52% of our management team working alongside their counterparts, both striving to create nourishing experiences for our guests with kindness and respect for one another.
History of International Women’s Day
According to internationalwomensday.com here are some historical highlights for IWD:
- In 1908, 15,000 women marched through New York City demanding shorter hours, better pay and voting rights.
- In 1911, International Women’s Day was honored the first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland on March 19th. More than one million women and men attended IWD rallies campaigning for women’s rights to work, vote, be trained, to hold public office and end discrimination.
- 2011 saw the 100 year centenary of International Women’s Day…In the United States, President Barack Obama proclaimed March 2011 to be “Women’s History Month”, calling Americans to mark IWD by reflecting on “the extraordinary accomplishments of women” in shaping the country’s history.
The Sedona Chamber of Commerce has scheduled the International Women’s Day Leadership Awards Luncheon on IWD, Wednesday, March 8, 2022. The Sedona Chamber is proud to honor past and present leading ladies of our community – from Sedona Schnebly our namesake known for her hospitality, to a present-day woman business leader from greater Sedona who has left an indelible mark on her community over the past year.
The chamber has asked followers to show support on or around March 8th by using #WomenLeading and #IWD2022 in your posts.
L’Auberge Events
Several of the L’Auberge female managers will be celebrating with the Sedona Chamber at their Leadership Awards Luncheon – follow our social media stories for a look inside the celebration.
