Patricia Griffin’s portraits of animals are thrilling and evocative and explore the subjects of humanity’s earliest artists. They are the contemporary manifestation of a long tradition in paintings. She utilizes subject matter as a testing ground for concepts of color, organization and structure. The animals give her an endless opportunity for reflection, growth and expression. She has met or seen each animal in person and is able to express their personality into her paintings.
A graduate of Moore College of Art and Design, BFA 1989. Griffin has spent the past 28 years painting, teaching, and traversing the United States.
Her palette is responsible in large part for the power of her Impressionist paintings. An intense involvement with bold colors and light dominate her paintings. Multiple layers of oil paint are applied and create a dynamic vibration. The paintings are often grand in scale and transpose the expected to the extraordinary.
Griffin’s work has brought her International recognition and has shown in 11 Museums. Her award-winning images can be found in collections from Dallas to Dubai. She has exhibited in 17 Solo Exhibitions, and over 130 Group Exhibitions. She has been represented by Goldenstein for over a decade.
